Job summary

The Intersect Group is seeking a Divisional Accountant in Phoenix, AZ, working 100% in-office to connect Construction Operations with Accounting. You will review budgets, perform WIP analyses, and manage month-end close, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and project profitability.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance/Construction, 3+ years in construction accounting, and strong Excel/ERP skills. CPA progress is a plus, as is experience with AI tools to enhance processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Construction Management required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience in construction/project environments.
• Knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, GAAP, and construction revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Procore, Oracle Fusion, Sage, or similar.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities.
• CPA (or progress toward CPA) is a plus.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers to review budgets, job costs, profitability, and project performance.
• Prepare and analyze WIP reports, job cost reports, and budget-to-actual variances.
• Calculate and reconcile monthly accruals, including project costs, taxes, and insurance.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Assist with revenue recognition, contract administration, and financial compliance.
• Coordinate AR follow-up, payment tracking, and project accounting support.
• Help optimize processes within Procore, Oracle Fusion, and other project systems.
