Job summary

Baker Construction NJ in Lebanon, New Jersey is seeking a full-time, in-office Bookkeeper to replace a part-time setup. You will own full-cycle AP/AR, process payroll data, and expand Sage 100 Contractor use for purchasing, contracts, invoicing, and inventory, ensuring clean, audit-ready books.

You will also handle prevailing wage reporting, IFTA filings, vehicle registrations, and renewals, while maintaining organized financials and timely reporting to support bonding and tax processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Full-cycle AP/AR ownership.
• Experience coordinating payroll submissions with outside payroll provider and/or 401(k) administrator.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable, end to end.
• Prepare payroll data and manage submissions to our 401(k) plan administrator.
• Expand and administer our use of Sage 100 Contractor — PO, contract management, change orders, schedule of values, invoicing, inventory.
• Prepare and file prevailing wage / certified payroll reports for public works projects.
• Manage IFTA fuel tax reporting and compliance for our vehicle fleet.
• Handle vehicle registrations and renewals, and manage renewal of company and trade memberships.
• Apply sound accounting practices and internal controls to keep financials audit-ready.
• Answer incoming calls and serve as a key point of contact for the office.
