Job summary

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) seeks a Supervisor of Mechanical Installations & Maintenance to oversee Construction Field Inspectors and ensure contract compliance on capital projects across NYCHA developments. The role requires strong leadership, site safety knowledge, and effective communication with project teams.

Typical responsibilities include reviewing documentation, conducting constructability reviews, and coordinating responses to contractor requests.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent and related experience in mechanical equipment installation, repair or inspection.
• Experience supervising construction field staff is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise activities of Construction Field Inspectors and mentor staff.
• Review daily reports and escalate to Project Management as needed.
• Prepare weekly project status reports for PM staff.
• Conduct constructability reviews at design stages.
• Assist with pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
• Coordinate responses to contractor-related inquiries and issues.
• Visit construction sites to review progress and attend meetings.
