Job summary

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Construction Field Inspector within the Asset & Capital Management Division to monitor contractors, ensure adherence to plans, safety standards, permits, and payment processes. This role supports a broad portfolio of modernization projects across NYCHA properties.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Experience in analyzing and negotiating resolution of construction project disputes.

Responsibilities

• Review and inspect contractors' work and contract administration for compliance with plans, specs, wages, safety, insurance and permits.
• Evaluate contractor schedules to ensure proper sequencing and minimize building interference.
• Monitor contractor performance and report discrepancies or unsatisfactory work.
• Issue field memoranda to enforce contract compliance and recommend remedies including liquidated damages.
• Conduct pre-construction, progress and exit meetings.
• Interact with resident leaders and property management on job-related issues.
• Review and approve contractor payment requisitions for the Construction Field Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate project records and update the project management system.
• Ensure punch lists are created and completed; review time extensions.
• Collaborate with project management team, architect or engineer on changes and drawings.
• Stay familiar with building codes and governmental regulations.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
