Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering intern to gain hands-on experience on active projects. You'll work with project teams, subcontractors, and partners to move tasks forward on site from day one.

This spring internship (January–April 2027) offers exposure to renewable energy, data centers, and other markets, with opportunities to learn industry-leading technology and develop professional skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Willing to be mobile/relocate.
• Possess a current driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and a trailer office environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the overall electrical scope on projects (Power, Solar, Energy Storage or Data Center).
• Assist with determining best layout of collection system within project constraints.
• Handle shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Assist with purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
• Collaborate with team in preconstruction and pre-installation meetings.
• Utilize industry-leading technology and software to aid construction processes.
• Support preparation and evaluation of bid packages.
• Consult with subcontractors and material suppliers.
• Handle material procurement.
