Job summary

Mortenson is hiring a Laborer Foreman to coordinate labor crews, prepare and supply materials, and supervise activities on construction sites. This role requires reading blueprints, interpreting job orders, and enforcing safety regulations as part of daily supervision.

The ideal candidate has union-specific training, at least three years of related experience, and strong communication skills. You will lead Laborer I/II, Journeymen, Apprentices, and Helpers, ensuring work aligns with schedules

Qualifications

• Three years of related construction experience preferred.
• Union-specific training required.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered tools and machinery.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of laborers and their assigned roles.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
• Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of equipment capacities and assigned personnel.
• Study and analyze schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for job completion.
• Analyze and resolve work problems.
• Maintain time records.
• Make cost estimates for contracts.
• Use logical step-by-step procedures in work; plan work and solve problems; make decisions based on measurable information; may operate machinery.
• Provide work direction to laborer I, II, Journeyman, Apprentice, and Helpers.
• Work according to standard, detailed instructions and established, well-defined procedures.
• Determine work method from alternatives.
• Work under broad assignments.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance.
• All other duties as assigned.
