Job Description

Frederick Derr & Company, Inc., an employee-owned, well-established Sarasota, FL-based contractor specializing in site construction including excavation, utility, storm, concrete, and roadway installation, is looking for an experienced full-time Estimator/Project Manager. This is a great opportunity to join an employee-owned company with excellent advancement potential.

Qualified candidates should possess 4-5 years of prior experience estimating and managing civil construction projects ranging from $200K to $15M.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Construction document review and accurate takeoffs for civil construction related quantities
2. Performing site visits to assess existing conditions and proposed scope of work
3. Submitting requests for information to clarify conditions and proposed improvements in a timely manner
4. Providing value engineering options to enhance contract award opportunities
5. Preparing and soliciting bid requests for subcontractors
6. Reviewing quotes for scope compliance
7. Establishing and maintaining owner relationships
8. Reviewing construction documents
9. Preparing and executing contracts, change orders, and billings
10. Developing and maintaining relationships with material suppliers and subcontractors
11. Analyzing and evaluating cost data to generate monthly project projections
12. Negotiating and estimating project changes and adjusting contracts accordingly
13. Attending pre-construction meetings to gather pertinent data
14. Providing input and support for project phasing and resource scheduling

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university
• 4-5+ years of experience in civil construction estimating and management, involving earthwork, piping, concrete, and roadwork
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and AGTEK software
