Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a diligent estimator for construction projects, combining field insight with rigorous cost analysis. You will prepare quantities, price lists, and OPCCs, coordinating with project teams and suppliers to ensure competitive bids.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 3 years of related experience, with travel up to 10%. You’ll work on varied projects, applying standards, schedules, and QA/QC practices to deliver accurate estimates

Qualifications

• Ability to identify moderately complex problems and discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
• Excellent computation, numeric and data analysis skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Proficient with engineering/construction terminology and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of contract specifications, quality plans, submittals, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic to moderately complex estimating tasks including quantity take-offs and cost research.
• Assist in preparing Opinions of Probable Cost (OPCC) and design-build project estimates.
• Coordinate with project managers and procurement for pricing and bid materials.
• Contact subcontractors/suppliers for current pricing and bidder interest.
• Assist in development of purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Prepare Project Execution Plans, status reports, and project documentation.
