Job summary

Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team.

The Estimator will assist with preparing cost estimates, reviewing project specifications, gathering subcontractor and supplier pricing, and supporting bid submissions for asphalt paving, site development, and heavy civil construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and operations personnel to develop accurate and competitive project

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for upcoming projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for paving, aggregates, site work.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers.
• Support the preparation of project cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
• Develop labor, equipment, and material pricing.
• Maintain estimating records and bid files.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
• Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to understand project requirements and production capabilities.
• Track bid opportunities and submission deadlines.
• Assist with turnover meetings for awarded projects.
• Develop an understanding of local market conditions, construction methods, and material pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
