Job summary

SEVEN LAKES CONTRACTING & ASPHALT S seeks an experienced estimator/supervisor for its busy asphalt paving operations. You will review project plans, measure quantities, and price labor, equipment and materials to balance competitive bids with profitability.

Required are 2–5 years in heavy civil or paving estimation, strong asphalt/concrete knowledge, and proficiency with takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, HeavyBid, AgTek or Planswift. Collaboration with PMs and subcontractors is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in heavy civil or paving estimating.
• Strong understanding of asphalt mix designs, concrete cure times, grading and paving operations.
• Experience with takeoff and bidding software and reading civil drawings.

Responsibilities

• Quantity Takeoffs: measure square footage, depth and volume from blueprints.
• Cost Analysis: calculate expenses for materials, haul-off, equipment, crew labor and fuel.
• Bid Preparation: assemble complete proposals with cost breakdowns and inclusions/exclusions.
• Vendor Coordination: obtain and compare quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Project Collaboration: meet with project managers, field superintendents and clients to review site conditions.

The estimator reviews project plans, measures material quantities, and prices out labor, equipment, and materials for asphalt and concrete construction jobs. They balance competitive pricing with company profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Quantity Takeoffs: Measure square footage, depth, and volume for asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, base materials, and sub-grades from blueprints.

Cost Analysis: Calculate expenses for raw materials, haul-off, equipment rentals, crew labor, and fuel.

Bid Preparation: Build complete proposal packages, including cost breakdowns, project inclusions, and exclusions.

Vendor Coordination: Collect and compare pricing quotes from subcontractors, material suppliers, and trucking services.

Project Collaboration: Meet with project managers, field superintendents, and clients to review site conditions and scope details.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: 2 to 5 years of heavy civil or paving construction estimating experience.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of asphalt mix designs, concrete cure times, grading, and paving operations.

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with takeoff and bidding tools like Bluebeam, HeavyBid, AgTek, or Planswift.

Reading Plans: Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, grading sheets, and project specifications.
