Job summary

Pave America is expanding and seeking an Estimator to determine costs for construction projects by analyzing plans and specifications. The estimator will calculate quantities for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, and prepare detailed cost proposals for clients and project managers.

Experience in concrete and asphalt estimating is preferred, with strong math, analytical and communication skills to ensure accurate budgets and competitive bids in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, with concrete/asphalt focus.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and technical documents.
• Familiar with estimating software (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift).
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates for concrete work.
• Calculate costs of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities in the estimating process.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment of cost estimates with project requirements.
• Prepare and present bid proposals in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain cost databases and stay current with market trends in pricing and construction methods.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.
• Ensure all estimates meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Track and update project budgets, costs, and changes throughout project lifecycles.
