Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects and support cost accuracy across the project team. The role emphasizes collaboration with estimators and managers on various estimating tasks.

You will work with hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating, read contracts, and perform quantity take-offs to deliver competitive bids. The position requires timely, accurate cost analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent education and experience.
• 1 year+ estimating commercial construction projects.
• Proficient in Timberline and Excel.
• Working knowledge of Word.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or Primavera preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates pricing information with subs and suppliers.
• Prepares estimate formats in areas such as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with preparation of bid proposals for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff with various special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
