Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator for a leading commercial General Contractor in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. You will develop accurate, competitive estimates for K-12 projects across the DFW market, leading preconstruction efforts from concept to GMP.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of estimating/preconstruction experience, a strong track record on ground-up and renovation work, and excellent relationships with subcontractors in the DFW area.

Qualifications

• K-12 project experience is REQUIRED.
• Experience with ground-up and renovation projects.
• Strong subcontractor relationships and knowledge of the DFW market.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts from conceptual budgeting through final bid and GMP development.
• Prepare detailed estimates for ground-up, renovation, addition, and occupied-campus K-12 projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, bid leveling, and subcontractor analysis.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, constructability concerns, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Develop conceptual and schematic estimates based on limited design information.

Job description

Our Client, a well-established commercial General Contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth market is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This individual will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects throughout the DFW area, with a strong focus on K-12 educational facilities.

IMPORTANT: Previous estimating experience specifically on K-12 construction projects is REQUIRED. Candidates without direct K-12 construction experience will not be considered

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead estimating efforts from conceptual budgeting through final bid and GMP development
• Prepare detailed estimates for ground-up, renovation, addition, and occupied-campus K-12 projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, bid leveling, and subcontractor analysis
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Identify scope gaps, potential risks, constructability concerns, and value-engineering opportunities
• Develop conceptual and schematic estimates based on limited design information
• Partner with project executives, project managers, and field teams throughout the preconstruction process
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors throughout the DFW market
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, presentations, and project handoffs to operations
• Maintain historical cost data and provide market insight for future projects

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating and/or preconstruction experience
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and costs
• Experience estimating both ground-up and renovation projects
• Strong subcontractor relationships and knowledge of the DFW construction market preferred
• Experience with conceptual estimating, hard bids, negotiated work, and GMP development
• Ability to independently manage multiple estimates and deadlines
• Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Proficiency with industry-standard estimating and construction software
