Job Description

Estimator Position Needed for General Contractor

Catts Construction, Inc is a general contractor engaged in construction of roads, sewers, water mains, and bridges in the Northeast, Ohio area. Catts is seeking an individual for the position of estimator.

This position involves working in a team environment and undertaking the following tasks:

1. Estimating the cost of projects (or portions of a project) for bidding purposes
2. Researching materials, equipment, and labor costs
3. Assessing the level of risk on a project
4. Analyzing data such as production rates, equipment, and material costs
5. Calculating the quantities of bid items and material items from construction drawings
6. Visiting and observing job sites
7. Collaborating with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and co-workers, including field personnel
8. Attending bid lettings
9. Participating in pre-construction and progress meetings
10. Performing calculations accurately
11. Preparing correspondence

This position also involves assisting project managers and field personnel with:

1. Material submittals
2. Scheduling
3. Subcontract agreements and purchase orders
4. Force accounts
5. Change orders
6. RFIs (Request for Information)
7. Correspondence
8. Progress meetings
9. Verifying invoices
10. Taking-off quantities
11. Contacting subcontractors and suppliers
12. Field measurements
13. Using HCSS Heavy Bid & Heavy Job programs
