Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr

Position: Director of People and Organizational Development

Summary

We are looking for an Estimator with commercial construction experience, including but not limited to, commercial buildings, earthwork, and concrete.

This person will prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information from construction plans and specifications. They will provide knowledge of costs and benefits to support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.

Duties

  • Responsible for GMPs, lump sum bidding, and bid package coordination
  • Perform quantity takeoffs (PlanSwift)
  • Attend prebid meetings, site visits, and bid submissions
  • Gather specifications, plans, and proposals to prepare work estimates; review and verify scope of work
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates (HeavyBid)
  • Create detailed instructions for bidders, trade-specific clarifications, and bid packages
  • Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; qualify proposals
  • Develop and maintain a subcontractor/supplier list; actively expand the subcontractor pool
  • Build strong, professional relationships with key vendors and clients
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy
  • Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work
  • Complete post-bid activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience with civil site development (earthwork, utilities, flatwork)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Experience with HeavyBid or similar software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and takeoff software
  • Experience with Agtek or similar software is helpful
  • High accountability and multitasking ability
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Team-oriented, cooperative, and collaborative
  • Knowledge of construction practices, contracts, estimating, scheduling, safety, and equipment
  • Understanding of unit costs and cost factors in construction
  • Experience with bidding processes and proposal evaluation
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills; detail-oriented
