This role involves working with employees, clients, specifying engineers, and vendors; managing estimates from start to finish. The position reports to management within the estimating department and supervises an existing estimating assistant employee.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with estimators, business development managers, project managers, construction managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on scope-of-work, changes, RFIs, and estimate adjustments prior to proposal submission.
- Perform quantity takeoff surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide detailed information to management and peer review teams to finalize estimates and proposals.
- Analyze RFPs, plans, amendments, and other documents to determine scope, establish costs, preparation times, schedules, materials, design, and labor estimates, ensuring accuracy and competitive bidding.
- Consult with clients, vendors, and construction team members to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Maintain the company's directory of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with project managers to develop work crews and production rates, and maintain a database of actual costs for comparison with estimates.
- Support and promote best practices for Valcourt’s safety program.
- Coordinate internal and external resources to expedite workflow.
- Manage communication between upper management and employees regarding active estimates and opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in waterproofing, masonry, and concrete repair/restoration preferred.
- Knowledge of procurement, contract award, buy-out, RFIs, AIA documents, and contract development.
- Familiarity with industry practices, materials, techniques, and code requirements.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in high-paced and stressful environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks appropriately.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field, OR
- At least five years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to travel as needed.
