Job summary

Elsdon Group in Houston is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing General Contractor. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial projects, review drawings and specs, and perform quantity take-offs in collaboration with project managers and suppliers.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in commercial estimating, experience with ground-up and TI work, and a strong grasp of drawings and subcontractor pricing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as an Estimator within commercial construction.
• Experience with ground-up construction and tenant improvement (TI) projects.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and quantity take-offs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and project documents to identify project requirements.
• Complete quantity take-offs and subcontractor bid evaluations.
• Work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and the preconstruction team.
• Assist with subcontractor procurement, bid comparisons, and scope reviews.
• Identify potential cost savings, risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Support projects from initial pricing through to final bid submission.

We are working with a well-established General Contractor in Houston who is looking to bring an experienced Estimator into their growing team.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' experience as an Estimator within commercial construction.

• Ideally, exposure to office, laboratory and manufacturing projects.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and quantity take-offs.
• Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong communication, organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an office-based team.
