Job summary

PerimeterSecurityPartners, LP is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support bidding and execution of construction and design-build projects in a collaborative environment. The role reports to the Preconstruction Manager and interfaces with multiple departments to develop cost estimates and turnover packages for the project management team.

The position requires at least 2 years of estimator-related experience, strong MS Office skills (especially Excel), and the ability to work

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a construction estimator or similar role.
• 4+ years in a professional work environment.
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
• Experience with a formal submittal process desired.
• Experience with Federal Government contracting desired.
• Ability to initiate and complete tasks without direct supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks for multiple projects/customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel.
• Strong customer management and professional written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support development of construction estimates by soliciting vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Maintain a cost database for common construction materials.
• Perform takeoffs and attend pre-bid site visits for information and measurements.
• Collaborate with construction management to develop durations for each work feature.
• Liaise with engineering to layout key features and takeoffs.
• Develop a database of product data to support submittal preparation.
• Complete project handoff checklists and participate in turnover meetings.
• Develop a draft budget for awarded projects.

PerimeterSecurityPartners(“PSP”)islookingforadetail-orientedConstructionEstimatortosupportthebiddingandexecutionofconstructionanddesign-buildprojects.TheConstructionEstimatorisresponsiblefordirectsupportofaSeniorConstructionEstimatorand/orthePreconstructionManagerduringthedevelopmentofcostestimates,supportingdocumentsforproposals,andprojectturnoverpackagesfortheconstructionProjectManagementteam.ThisrolereportsdirectlytothePreconstructionManagerwhileinteractingwithseveralotherdepartmentsthroughoutthecompanyinacollaborativeworkenvironment.

Duties

• Supportthedevelopmentofconstructionestimatesby:
• Solicitingvendorandsubcontractorquotes,
• Maintainingacostdatabaseforallcommonconstructionmaterials,
• Performingrebartakeoffs,
• Attendingpre-bidsitevisitstocollectinformationandmeasurements,
• Collaboratingwithconstructionmanagementpersonneltodevelopdurationsforeachfeatureofwork,and
• Liaisewithengineeringtolayoutkeyfeaturesofworkanddeveloptakeoffs.
• Collectandmaintainadatabaseofcommonlyusedproductdatatofacilitatepreconstructionsubmittaldevelopment.
• Completetheprojecthandoffchecklistandparticipateinprojectturnovermeetingsbetweenthepreconstructionandconstructionmanagementteams.
• Developadraftbudgetforawardedprojectsbasedonthefinalestimate.
• Identifykeyend-userpointsofcontactfordigpermits,hotworkpermits,utilityoutages,qualityassuranceinspections,andothercoordination.
• Identifyprospectiveconcrete,rebar,crushedstone,andrentalequipmentvendorsforeachsitetoobtainaccuratepricingandsupportprojecthandoff.
• AssistConstructionProjectManagerswithpricingdataforchangeorderproposals.

Requirements,Skills,andQualifications

• Minimumof2yearsofexperienceasaconstructionestimator,constructionprojectmanager,constructionprojectengineer,orasimilarroleisrequired.
• Minimumof4yearsofexperienceinaprofessionalworkenvironmentisrequired.
• Experiencereviewingplansandspecificationstodeterminematerialandlaborrequirementsisrequired.
• Experiencewithaformalsubmittalprocessishighlydesired.
• ExperiencewithFederalGovernmentcontractingishighlydesired.
• Demonstratedabilitytoinitiateandcompletecommontaskswithoutdirectsupervision.
• Abilitytoprioritizeandaccomplishmultiplediversetasksinsupportofmultipleassignedprojectsandmultipleinternalcustomers.
• HighproficiencywithMicrosoftOfficesuiteincludingExcelisrequired.
• Mustpossessstrongcustomermanagementskills,includingprofessionalwrittenandverbalcommunication.
• MustbeabletoworkintheUnitedStateswithoutsponsorship.
• Mustbeabletopassabackgroundcheckanddrugtestthatwillpermitaccesstomilitaryinstallationsaresimilarcontrolledareas.
