Perimeter Security Partners (PSP) in Brentwood, TN is seeking a detail‑oriented Construction Estimator to support bid development and project turnover. • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a construction estimator or similar role.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience.
• Experience reviewing plans and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
• Formal submittal process experience is highly desired.
• Experience with Federal Government contracting is highly desired.
• Strong customer management and professional written and verbal communication.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must pass a background check and drug test for access to controlled areas.

Responsibilities

• Support development of construction estimates by soliciting vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Maintain a cost database for common construction materials.
• Perform rebar takeoffs and attend pre-bid site visits for measurements.
• Collaborate with construction management to develop durations for each feature of work.
• Liaise with engineering to layout key features of work and develop takeoffs.
• Collect and maintain a database of product data for preconstruction submittals.
• Complete the project handoff checklist and participate in turnover meetings.
• Develop a draft budget for awarded projects based on the final estimate.
• Identify end-user contacts for permits and inspections and other coordination.
• Identify prospective vendors for concrete, rebar, crushed stone and rental equipment for pricing.
• Assist PMs with pricing data for change order proposals.

Description

Perimeter Security Partners(“PSP”) is looking for a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support the bidding and execution of construction and design-build projects. The Construction Estimator is responsible for direct support of a Senior Construction Estimator and/or the Preconstruction Manager during the development of cost estimates, supporting documents for proposals, and project turnover packages for the construction Project Management team. This role reports directly to the Preconstruction Manager while interacting with several other departments throughout the company in a collaborative work environment.

Duties

• Support the development of construction estimates by:
• Soliciting vendor and subcontractor quotes,
• Maintaining a cost database for all common construction materials,
• Performing rebar takeoffs,
• Attending pre‑bid site visits to collect information and measurements,
• Collaborating with construction management personnel to develop durations for each feature of work, and
• Liaise with engineering to layout key features of work and develop takeoffs.
• Collect and maintain a database of commonly used product data to facilitate preconstruction submittal development.
• Complete the project handoff checklist and participate in project turnover meetings between the preconstruction and construction management teams.
• Develop a draft budget for awarded projects based on the final estimate.
• Identify key end‑user points of contact for dig permits, hot work permits, utility outages, quality assurance inspections, and other coordination.
• Identify prospective concrete, rebar, crushed stone, and rental equipment vendors for each site to obtain accurate pricing and support project handoff.
• Assist Construction Project Managers with pricing data for change order proposals.

Requirements, Skills, And Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a construction estimator, construction project manager, construction project engineer, or a similar role is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional work environment is required.
• Experience reviewing plans and specifications to determine material and labor requirements is required.
• Experience with a formal submittal process is highly desired.
• Experience with Federal Government contracting is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete common tasks without direct supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple diverse tasks in support of multiple assigned projects and multiple internal customers.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel is required.
• Must possess strong customer management skills, including professional written and verbal communication.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test that will permit access to military installations are similar controlled areas.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit at a computer workstation for several hours at a time.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds to waist level.
• Ability to work outdoors to perform occasional job site visits.
• Ability to travel by air or for up to 8 hours by car.

Additional Information

• Duties are generally performed in PSP’s Brentwood, TN office.
• Periodic (<10%) travel within the United States is required to vendor locations, work sites for pre‑bid meetings or project kickoff meetings, and other off‑site meeting locations in the United States with all related expenses paid for by the company.
