Job summary

The HT Group is partnering with a commercial construction company to hire a Construction Estimator to support Texas-based preconstruction and light industrial projects. The role focuses on analyzing documents, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in estimating commercial construction projects. This is a full-time, in-office position located in Austin or Dallas, with salary and benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3–5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, preferably within light industrial or related project types.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and estimating principles.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review construction documents, specifications, and bid packages to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, proposal kickoff meetings, and estimating strategy discussions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Analyze bids for completeness and compliance with project requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners.
• Maintain subcontractor and cost databases to support future estimating efforts.
• Utilize estimating software and company systems to prepare competitive bids and budgets.
• Research and organize historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
• Support responses to RFPs, RFQs, and other project pursuits.
• Collaborate with operations and preconstruction teams throughout the estimating process.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and overall preconstruction efficiency.
