Job summary

Blayze Group in Dallas, TX seeks a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team. You will prepare accurate cost estimates, analyze plans and specs, and help win profitable commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial GC, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Sage Estimating. You will manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from $1 million to $50+ million.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, OST, or similar platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design-development, and final construction estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Develop comprehensive bid proposals and project budgets.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and clients throughout the preconstruction process.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, labor rates, material pricing, and industry trends.
• Assist in preparing project schedules, logistics plans, and preliminary project execution strategies.
• Support contract negotiations and project handoff to operations teams following award.
• Maintain accurate estimating databases and historical cost information.
