Job summary

Sullivan Construction, LLC, located in Bedford, New Hampshire, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for various commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in construction methods and collaborate closely with project teams to ensure project success.

With at least 6 years of commercial construction experience and proficiency in estimating software, the candidate will play a vital role in reviewing bids and validating project budgets.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of building construction processes, trades, and materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates covering all phases of a construction project.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop complete quantity take-offs.
  • Review and validate subcontractor bids and supplier quotes.
  • Estimate costs for equipment, general conditions, and project logistics.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure constructability and budget alignment.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises for cost savings.
  • Assist in developing bid proposals and participate in strategy meetings.

Job description

The Construction Estimatoris responsible forpreparing detailed and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and municipal building projects. This individual will analyze construction plans, specifications, and market factors to develop competitive budgets and support the pursuit of new work. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, collaborative, and hasa strong foundationin construction methods and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepareaccurate, detailed cost estimates covering all phases of a construction project.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop completequantitytake-offs and material/labor assessments.
  • Review andvalidatesubcontractor bids and supplier quotes to ensure alignment with project scope and pricing standards.
  • Estimate costs for equipment, general conditions, and projectlogistics.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure constructability and schedule alignment with proposed budgets.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises to maximize project efficiency and cost savings.
  • Assistwith developing bid proposals andparticipatein bid strategy meetings.
  • Maintain historical cost databases and update pricing regularly based on market conditions.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative preconstruction team.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, ora relatedfield — or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of commercial construction experience, including at least 5 years in estimating roles.
  • Experience with a variety of commercial project types (e.g., industrial, educational, healthcare, municipal) preferred.
