Job summary

Mesa County in Grand Junction, Colorado is seeking a skilled equipment operator to maintain roads and rights-of-way. You will operate heavy trucks and machinery, perform routine maintenance, and support traffic control at construction sites to keep projects on schedule.

This role requires a high school diploma with two years of related experience, CDL with tanker endorsement, flagger and brake certifications. Candidates must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and be on 24-hour call.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience.
• Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
• Licenses and Certifications: CDL A/B Tanker Endorsement (endorsement can be obtained after hire), State Flagger Certification (can be attained after hire), Brake Certification (can be attained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Operate complex construction and maintenance equipment to perform road maintenance tasks.
• Assist with traffic control at road construction sites.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment (oil and fluid checks, tire pressure, belts).
• Demolish concrete and asphalt and perform related tasks including forming, pouring, and finishing concrete or asphalt.
• Mow and edge grass, trim trees and shrubbery with right-of-way equipment.
• Be available for 24-hour call out and respond within 60 minutes to emergencies.
