Job summary

Mesa County is seeking a skilled equipment operator to perform complex road maintenance and right‑of‑way work. Responsibilities include operating dump trucks, loaders, graders and support equipment, plus assisting with traffic control and routine machine maintenance.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience. CDL class A/B with tanker endorsement and flagger certification may be obtained after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience.
• Standing, bending, lifting up to 100 pounds; ability to work in extreme conditions.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and operate complex equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate complex construction and maintenance equipment to perform road and right-of-way maintenance.
• Assist with traffic control at road construction sites.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and check fluids, tires, belts, and safety devices.
• Demolish concrete and asphalt with available equipment and compact debris as directed.
• Backfill, trench, and excavate as needed and set grades and forms.
