Job summary

Mesa County is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to perform maintenance on roads and rights-of-way using complex construction equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, graders, and backhoes. The role involves traffic control duties, routine equipment upkeep, and compliance with DOT testing policies.

You will assist with repairs, grading, and concrete work as directed, with on-call readiness and safety as top priorities in a demanding field operations environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of related experience preferred.
• Ability to operate complex construction equipment and perform maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (dump truck, loader, grader, backhoe) to perform road maintenance.
• Assist with traffic control at construction sites.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Carry out concrete, piping, and grading tasks as directed.
• Respond to emergency callouts and be on 24-hour availability.
