Job summary

Tennessee Department of Transportation seeks a Construction Engineering Technician to provide independent oversight for TDOT infrastructure projects. You will work with Region Operations, CEI personnel, and contractors to ensure inspections meet TDOT specifications and safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Within 6 months, mastery of TDOT Technician skills and competency elements.
• Promotion paths TDOT Technician 1→2→3 based on performance and licensing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in resolving project issues among TDOT, contractors, and suppliers.
• Oversee field and lab testing of soils, asphalt, concrete and aggregates; ensure compliance with specs.
• Maintain daily project records and inspection reports.
• Provide data and drawings to support project oversight and quality assurance.
• Operate heavy and light vehicles safely to support construction and maintenance.
