AtkinsRéalis in Austin, Texas is seeking a Construction Engineering Intern to assist CEI staff on active transportation construction projects. You will review plans, document progress, and help prepare pay-estimate documentation while coordinating with engineers and inspectors.

The position emphasizes safety, hands-on learning, and mentorship within a global engineering organization. 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree are required by Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by the start of the internship in Summer 2027.
• Experience: No prior experience required for enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist CEI staff with observing and documenting roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic-control activities on active construction projects.
• Review construction plans and specs with project staff to understand contract requirements.
• Support tracking and coordination of submittals, RFIs, change orders, action items, and project correspondence.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and project personnel while following safety procedures.
• Prepare spreadsheets, meeting notes, status reports, and progress updates.
• Assist with verifying construction quantities and preparing pay-estimate documentation.
