Job summary

HauglandGroup, a privately owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company, has an immediate opportunity for a Director of Construction to join our team. This position will be based out of our territory in the USVI, St. Croix.

The Director of Construction oversees commercial and strategic leadership for multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, with PDB and large-scale delivery responsibilities. Excellent benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• 12+ years progressive leadership experience in infrastructure construction, utility, energy or heavy civil markets.
• Experience leading large-scale Progressive Design-Build/Design-Build/CM/GC projects with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with preconstruction management, design integration, project controls and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy and ensure compliance with contract obligations and procedures.
• Oversee change management, claims, payment mechanisms, performance provisions and reporting.
• Manage large subcontract portfolios, negotiations and risk mitigation plans.
• Interface with legal, executives, clients and partners; prepare high-level forecasts and summaries.
• Provide executive oversight from pursuit through closeout of electrical and civil projects.
• Drive operational excellence, standardization and continuous improvement across construction ops.
• Interface with design partners, specialty consultants and joint venture partners throughout the lifecycle.
• Support business development, pursuits, proposals and contract negotiations.

TheDirectorofConstructionhasfullcommercialoversightoftheprojectincludingprocurement,contracts,financialexposure,changemanagement,claims/disputes,andriskmanagement.Providesstrategiccommercialguidancetoseniorcompanyleadership.TheidealcandidatewillhavesubstantiveProgressiveDesign-Build(PDB)experienceonlarge-scalehorizontalinfrastructureprojects,includingfederallyfundedprograms,servingasaprimecontractor,subcontractor,and/orjointventurepartner.

KeyResponsibilities

Commercial&FinancialManagement

• Monitorportfolioperformanceandimplementstrategiestoimproveproductivity,profitability,andprojectoutcomes.

ProgressiveDesign-BuildLeadership

• LeadProgressiveDesign-Buildprojectdeliverybyintegratingowners,designers,estimators,procurementteams,andconstructionpersonnelthroughoutprojectdevelopmentandexecution.
• ProvideexecutiveoversightofPhase1preconstructionservices,includingdesigndevelopment,constructabilityreviews,riskassessments,costmodeling,scheduling,andvalueoptimization.
• Facilitatecollaborativedecision-makingwithprojectownersandstakeholderstoestablishscope,deliverystrategies,budgetobjectives,riskallocation,andexecutionplans.
• Oversethedevelopment,validation,andnegotiationofopen-bookestimates,commercialstrategies,GuaranteedMaximumPrice(GMP)proposals,andprojectpricingpackages.
• Ensureaseamlesstransitionfrompreconstructionintoconstructionexecutionwhilemaintainingalignmentwithschedule,quality,safety,financial,andperformanceobjectives.
• Championinnovation,earlyriskidentification,andintegratedplanningtoimproveprojectcertainty,stakeholderalignment,andoverallprojectoutcomes.
• Providestrategicoversightofrelationshipswithdesignpartners,specialtyconsultants,subcontractors,utilityowners,regulatoryagencies,andjointventurepartnersthroughouttheprojectlifecycle.
