Jobtailor seeks an Independent Engineer to review capital costs and construction schedules for wind, solar, hydro, and thermal power projects in Colorado. You will support project managers during due diligence and provide owner’s engineering and advisory services.

Responsibilities include reviewing EPC contracts, budgets, forecasts, and schedules, and conducting site visits to develop client-ready work products for financiers, developers, and DOE/EIA. Flexibility for travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction disciplines; 2+ years for junior, 4+ years for mid, 8+ years for senior.
  • Experience in estimating, scheduling, project controls on industrial/power projects.

Job description

  • Review capital costs and construction schedules for new and existing wind, solar, hydro, and thermal power generation projects as an Independent Engineer
  • Support project managers during transactional due diligence reviews
  • Provide subject matter expertise in cost estimating and project scheduling
  • Review EPC contract exhibits, project budgets, forecasts, estimates, and schedules
  • Provide Owner’s Engineering and Advisory support
  • Assist with project management, sales proposal development, and technology reviews
  • Conduct project site visits in support of reviews
  • Develop and deliver work products for clients including private equity, infrastructure and hedge funds, banks, developers, legal and financial advisors, manufacturers, DOE, and EIA

Requirements

  • Junior Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with two plus years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
  • Mid-Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with four plus years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
  • Senior Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with eight plus years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
  • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Construction experience including estimating, scheduling, project controls, or project engineering with increasing responsibility
  • Field engineering experience during project construction
  • Effective communication with internal staff and external parties
  • Experience with project controls, contractor proposal review, equipment supply agreement review, project scheduling, and construction project phases
  • General knowledge of construction safety
  • Familiarity with Primavera and Microsoft Project
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet client deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple project review schedule commitments
  • Ability to develop and deliver work products with limited guidance or specification
  • Willingness and ability to travel for project site visits, potentially internationally
  • Ability to work extended hours periodically to support client needs
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Favorable: experience with power generation construction, EPC contract review, critical path method schedules, earned value management, large construction projects, FE/EIT certification, PE license, and industrial, commercial, mechanical, electrical, or transmission and distribution projects
