Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced engineer to drive development of power generation, energy storage, and utility infrastructure projects from concept to execution. You will craft conceptual designs, basis-of-design, project schedules, and capital cost estimates while evaluating technical and economic viability.

Ideal candidates bring a strong analytical skillset, exceptional communication, and proven leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or Engineering Technology with PE license).
  • Engineer II: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; Engineer III: 4+ years; Senior Engineer: 8+ years.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business functions and commit to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of power generation, energy storage, utility infrastructure, and emerging energy projects from concept through execution.
  • Develop conceptual designs, basis-of-design documents, project schedules, execution strategies, and capital cost estimates.
  • Perform technical and economic evaluations supporting project screening, technology selection, and investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with commercial, business development, operations, environmental, regulatory, and construction teams.
  • Partner with engineering consultants, EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and customers.
  • Identify and mitigate technical, permitting, environmental, regulatory, constructability, and schedule risks.
  • Lead complex project development efforts with significant business impact; serve as a technical resource.

Job description

  • Support development of power generation, energy storage, utility infrastructure, and emerging energy projects from concept through execution
  • Develop conceptual designs, basis-of-design documents, project schedules, execution strategies, and capital cost estimates
  • Perform technical and economic evaluations supporting project screening, technology selection, and investment decisions

  • Support innovative energy solutions for industrial, data center, and infrastructure applications
  • Identify and mitigate technical, permitting, environmental, regulatory, constructability, and schedule risks
  • Consider safety, reliability, operability, maintainability, and lifecycle performance in project development
  • Perform engineering assignments and technical analyses
  • Independently execute moderately complex assignments and lead portions of development projects
  • Lead complex project development efforts with significant business impact
  • Serve as a technical resource for project development, technology evaluation, and execution strategy
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and influence across multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or Engineering Technology degree with PE license)
  • Engineer II: 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Engineer III: 4+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Senior Engineer: 8+ years of progressive engineering experience
  • Engineer III: Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently
  • Senior Engineer: Demonstrated leadership on complex engineering or capital projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business functions
  • Commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools
  • Preferred: FE certification
  • Preferred: Exposure to or experience with power generation, energy storage, utility infrastructure, industrial or large capital projects
  • Preferred: Familiarity with project economics, planning, conceptual engineering, business case development, capital planning, and investment decision support
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Preferred: Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders
