Job summary

Wolverine Construction is seeking a Construction Cost Accountant to serve as a trusted financial partner on active general contracting projects. This hands-on role owns project financials from pre-construction handoff to closeout, partnering with project leadership, owners, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost reporting and billing.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction cost accounting, proficiency with ERP systems (Acumatica/Procore/Viewpoint), and experience with Cost-Plus

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction cost accounting experience.
• 2+ years working in a construction ERP (Acumatica, Procore, Viewpoint).
• Experience with Cost-Plus contracts and MSHDA projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing project financials for multiple active jobs.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting concepts, including AIA billing, progress billings, and change orders.
• Knowledge of contract management / compliance and lien waivers.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accountability for the financial performance and reporting of assigned projects.
• Setup, maintenance, and closeout across financial systems.
• Partner with Project Managers on job cost accuracy, revenue recognition, and forecasting.
• Reviewing, approving, and troubleshooting subcontractor and job cost invoices.
• Preparing monthly job cost reports, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks.
• Managing monthly progress billings and monitoring over/under billings.
• Preparing sworn statements and managing lien waiver compliance.
• Supporting subcontract drafting, change orders, and contract modifications.
• Monitoring receivables, retention, and subcontractor payments.
• Ensuring project financials integrate into company financial statements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality.
