Job summary

BW Design Group in Overland Park, KS seeks an Associate General Counsel to lead contract negotiations and risk management for our design and construction projects, including design-build and EPC contracts, guiding disputes and compliance.

The role partners with executive leadership and project teams, requires a JD and state license, and offers high-visibility work across architecture, engineering, and construction management entities.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate design, EPC, design-build, and CM contracts.
• Draft and modify AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and owner-drafted forms.
• Lead negotiations with Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement.
• Maintain the firm's contract and template library.
• Shape risk mitigation strategy with the Project Team.
• Advise on project selection risk and delivery methodology.
• Support business development through proactive contract terms and direct client engagement.
• Guide teams through the project lifecycle — kickoff to close‑out.
• Manage disputes: client discussions, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, settlements.
• Coordinate with insurers and outside counsel.
