Job summary

Barry-Wehmill er Design Group is seeking an attorney to lead contract negotiations and risk management for its design and construction projects. You will collaborate with the Executive Team, Project Leadership, Procurement, insurers, and outside counsel to finalize complex agreements from kickoff to close-out.

The role emphasizes drafting design-build, EPC, and CM contracts, maintaining templates, and guiding risk decisions across the enterprise while supporting client engagements.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• 5+ years of legal experience supporting construction, commercial contracts, or project delivery work.
• Experience drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and construction management contracts.
• Travel up to 15% of time.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and lead design and construction contracts (design-build, EPC, CM).
• Draft, revise, and standardize agreements (AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, owner-drafted).
• Lead negotiations with Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement.
• Maintain contract library for consistency and speed of execution.
• Advise on risk mitigation, project selection, and delivery methods.
• Support business development with contract strategy and client engagement.
• Coordinate with insurers and outside counsel on liability and insurance matters.
• Oversee licensing, governance, and risk management across Design Group entities.
