Qualifications

• Must handle litigation files from start to finish, with most CD files in suit or expected to be litigated.
• Must interpret policy forms and endorsements that may limit or exclude coverage.
• Must understand Named Insured roles and obligations to others (GC, sub, etc.).
• Must determine Additional Insured obligations, if any.
• Must evaluate contractual obligations and their effect on coverage.
• Ability to draft Coverage Position Letters for management approval.
• Recognize coverage issues that require internal or external counsel input.
• Identify early settlement opportunities and advise on business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate claims via telephone, correspondence, and personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, and others.
• Analyze information to evaluate coverage, liability, loss extent, and potential co-carriers.
• Process inquiries from insureds, claimants, attorneys, and agents; coordinate with underwriters.
• Evaluate, negotiate, and settle non-litigated and litigated claims within authority; handle litigation files.
• Update status with underwriters on exposures and coverage gaps.
• Receive and approve expenses for investigation and handling of claims.
• Prepare check requisitions for loss payments outside LegalX.
• Explore salvage/subrogation; participate in claims reviews and settlements.
• Close claims with payment or denial and secure releases.
• Travel as needed, up to 0-10% of time.
