Summary

The Construction Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects.

Essential Functions

1. Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
2. Constructs interior wall framing and partitions utilizing various types of materials such as light metal framing, wood studs, and steel.
3. Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
4. Hangs wall covering materials such as drywall, cement panels, and wood paneling. Some drywall finishing experience is a plus.
5. Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
6. Joins materials with appropriate nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
7. Ensures accuracy by checking completed projects with levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects issues as needed.
8. Creates wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects.
9. Erects and dismantles scaffolding.
10. Installs windows, doors, and hardware.
11. Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Commercial Carpentry Experience
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to perform general interior building wall layout is a plus.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Proper care and use of tools of the trade.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
