Carpenter - Lake Clark (Remote Alaska)

We are seeking full-time carpenters to join our team for a National Park Service housing project located in the remote, beautiful Lake Clark, Alaska! The project is scheduled to start in a few weeks. Qualified candidates must be proficient in remote construction work within Alaska. We are looking for collaborative, respectful team players who can work with subcontractors and ensure project execution meets the highest standards. This position includes company-paid housing. Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information on materials and dimensions.
  • Select appropriate materials such as lumber or fiberboard.
  • Prepare layouts using tools like rules, framing squares, and calipers.
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials.
  • Shape materials to specified measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.
  • Assemble and fasten materials with nails, dowels, and glue.
  • Verify structure accuracy with levels and plumb bobs.
  • Erect frameworks and lay sub-flooring.
  • Build stairs, lay out and install partitions and cabinets.
  • Install flooring, paneling, and hardware as specified.
  • Construct forms for concrete pouring and erect scaffolding and ladders.
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of commercial carpentry/construction experience.
  • 3+ years of carpentry experience in Alaska.
  • Strong skills with carpentry equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
  • Dependability and good judgment for independent work.
  • Solid safety record and safety mindset.
  • Commitment to quality and respectful teamwork.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to navigate construction sites with uneven surfaces.
  • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Climb ladders and roofs.
  • Lift up to 50-80 lbs.
  • Read blueprints and operate carpentry equipment.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Work long days, up to 6 days a week.
  • Travel within Alaska, including driving, flying, and ferries, for weeks or months at a time.
Other Requirements
  • Pass employment background check and drug test.
