Job description

Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Construction Attorney.

Overview: MLA is seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Attorney to work as a member of the Real Estate team to manage our client’s construction projects. The candidates should have law firm experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts as well as have exceptional project management skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. It is important to our client that the winning candidate demonstrate unyielding integrity.

Experience:8+ years of experience as a Construction Attorney with a top tier law firm

Location:REMOTE – East Coast time zone

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide leaders, stakeholders, colleagues and outside counsel with expert, practical, legal, and business advice on domestic and international construction projects
• Review/negotiate construction contracts, including design-build, CM, and A&E Contracts, as well as participate in an ongoing forms project involving ConsensusDocs
• Advise on risk management and mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, global facilities, sourcing, and finance to ensure alignment and compliance with internal project requirements

Qualifications Include:

• J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in US; a member of a state bar in good standing
• 8+ years of experience practicing construction law at a top tier law firm advising on all aspects of domestic and international construction projects
• Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts, such as design-build, Construction Management (CM), and Architectural and Engineering (A&E) Contracts
• Working knowledge of ConsensusDocs or other standardized construction contract formswith the understanding of their benefits and limitations
• Strong understanding of Real Estate business
• Experience with risk management, mitigation strategies, sourcing, finance and compliance as it relates to high-end construction projects.
• Demonstrate unyielding integrity
• Able to manage domestic and international outside counsel
• Demonstrate excellent communication skillsto provide clear and practical advice to leaders, stakeholders, and colleagues
• Demonstrate problem-solving skillsand operate under minimal supervision to plan and navigate the complexities of construction law
• Strong collaboration and organizational skillsto manage legal assignments effectivelywhile working with cross-functional teams
