Job summary

TMG Construction Corp is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to manage cradle-to-grave aspects of small commercial and/or institutional design/build projects, or support management for larger ventures. The role covers schedule, cost, quality, and subcontractor coordination across delivery methods including IDIQ, Lump-Sum, Design/Build, and Fast Track.

You will collaborate with SMEs, oversee shop drawings, change orders, and project controls, and ensure safety and compliance across job sites

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 2-3 years of experience with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor or 5 years of directly related experience with no degree.
• Demonstrated experience in estimating and managing self-performed work activities and subcontracted work.
• A basic to good understanding of construction means and methods associated with renovation of commercial/institutional buildings and site work.
• Solid understanding/proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and other software used in the construction industry.
• Must be able to lift and handle 50-pound objects; mobility to inspect job sites and direct field forces; clean driving record.
• Current safety credentials including OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR; CQC certification; EIT or AC.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain project controls tracking status, changes, RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, quality, safety, and financials.
• Work with SMEs to create, review, and process shop drawings and submittals documenting construction.
• Manage or support change management by updating logs, pricing, estimates, and change orders.
• Manage or support estimating via quantity surveys using digitizers, 3D modeling, and paper-based processes.
• Establish and monitor project schedules using scheduling software.
• Develop control drawings and coordinate shop drawings to ensure components fit together.
• Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders; liaise with vendors.
• Produce regular project reports using TMG and client workflows (TMG Project Center, USACE QCS/RMS, Prolog).
• Identify issues early and facilitate solutions; ensure compliance with contract terms and laws.
• Interact with accounting, HR, and other support groups; assist with project closeout and lessons learned.
• Support life-long learning and participate in staff meetings and networking.
