Job summary

TMG Construction in Leesburg, VA seeks an Assistant Project Manager to oversee cradle-to-grave life cycle of small commercial and institutional design/build projects, or to support larger efforts.

You will coordinate with subcontractors, manage schedules, estimates, RFIs, shop drawings, and cost control, traveling to jobsites within the region as needed. The role emphasizes process management and adaptability across delivery methods.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 2–3 years of experience with a commercial/industrial GC or 5 years of related experience without a degree.
• Civil estimating and contracting experience.
• IDIQ contracting experience preferred.
• Estimating and managing self-performed work experience.
• Understanding of renovation means and methods for commercial/institutional buildings.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and common construction software.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain project controls for schedules, changes, RFIs, shop drawings, and quality/safety/financial metrics.
• Review and process shop drawings and other submittals with SMEs.
• Support change management: logs, pricing, estimates, change orders.
• Estimate quantities using digitizers, 3D models, and paper processes.
• Develop and monitor project schedules with contemporary software.
• Assist layout and CAD reviews to ensure proper fit of all elements.
• Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders as needed.
• Produce reports using TM G Project Center, USACE QCS/RMS, Prolog, etc.
• Identify issues early and facilitate solutions.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and applicable laws.
• Coordinate with accounting, HR, ICS, and other groups.
• Contribute to project closeout and lessons learned.
• Support constructability reviews and value engineering.
