Job summary

Industrial Electric, Inc. (IEI) is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to join our team in Indianapolis. You will manage vendor invoicing, coding to projects, and approval workflows while maintaining accurate records and supporting month-end close.

The role requires 2+ years in accounts payable, familiarity with construction accounting, and proficiency in Excel/Outlook. Onsite, full-time position with a strong emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• An associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years accounts payable or accounting experience is required.
• Construction or project-based accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista or another construction accounting system is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of invoices and requests.
• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and maintaining confidential financial information.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accurate allocation to projects, departments, and general ledger accounts.
• Route invoices through established approval processes and follow up on outstanding approvals.
• Review invoice documentation for completeness and compliance with company requirements.
• Assist with weekly payment processing and preparation of invoices scheduled for payment.
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding invoices, payment questions, and discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate vendor records and assist with new vendor setup, including collecting required documentation.
• Collaborate with vendors, project accountants, project managers, and internal departments to resolve accounting and payment-related issues.
• Support accurate job-cost reporting by identifying and resolving coding or allocation discrepancies.
• Maintain organized electronic accounts payable records to support internal controls and audit requirements.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciliations, audits, and other accounting projects as needed.
