Job summary

Responsibilities

• Review design deliverables and identify inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors, and omissions in progress plans to help minimize RFIs and change orders.
• Coordinate project documents across architectural, engineering, and other design disciplines.
• Perform comprehensive constructability reviews of pre-bid construction documents.
• Collaborate with the Design Manager, Owner’s Authorized Representative, design professionals, and project stakeholders to resolve potential constructability issues.

Position: Constructability Review Specialist – General

Employment Type: Full-Time

Avsar Construction Development, Inc. is seeking an experienced Constructability Review Specialist – General to support preconstruction and design review activities for public and educational facility projects in Southern California.

The Constructability Review Specialist will work closely with the Design Manager and Owner’s Authorized Representative to identify potential design and construction issues before bidding and help ensure that project documents are coordinated, complete, and constructible.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Design Manager and Owner’s Authorized Representative during the preconstruction phase.
• Assist with defining and reviewing project scope, requirements, schedules, and interim housing requirements.
• Provide value engineering recommendations during the early stages of design.
• Review design deliverables and identify inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors, and omissions in progress plans to help minimize RFIs and change orders.
• Coordinate project documents across architectural, engineering, and other design disciplines.
• Perform comprehensive constructability reviews of pre-bid construction documents.
• Collaborate with the Design Manager, Owner’s Authorized Representative, design professionals, and project stakeholders to resolve potential constructability issues.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:

• 15 years of full-time professional paid experience with a degree in Architecture.
• At least 10 years of experience serving as a Construction Administrator.
• At least 5 additional years of experience serving as a Designer.
• Construction Administration experience must include public or educational facility construction projects with full responsibility for supporting the projects.
• Project experience must include projects with a construction value of at least $8 million for an individual project, or a combined cumulative project value of at least $80 million.
• 15 years of full-time professional paid experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Experience must include public/educational facility construction and/or large commercial projects.
• Demonstrated full responsibility for coordinating complex projects.
• Project experience must include a single project with a construction value exceeding $30 million, with a combined cumulative project value of at least $400 million.

Education Substitution

• A minimum of two years of college-level coursework from a recognized college, university, or trade school may be accepted, with five additional years of professional experience substituted for the educational requirement.

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and confidently in a complex project environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing RFIs/RFCs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam.
• Strong understanding of design coordination, constructability, and construction administration processes.
• Experience with public-sector, educational, institutional, or large commercial construction is strongly relevant.

This position supports complex construction projects where careful coordination between design and construction teams is essential. The successful candidate will bring extensive field and/or design experience and the ability to identify potential project issues early, communicate them clearly, and work collaboratively toward practical solutions.
