Job summary

Element Consulting, Inc. in El Segundo, CA, seeks a senior Construction Administrator/Designer to support the preconstruction phase. You will help define the scope and schedule, review design deliverables, and ensure coordination across disciplines to reduce RFIs and Change Orders.

Salary range $175k–$195k; 15+ years with architecture degree required, and public/educational facility experience preferred. Located in Southern California with opportunities on complex projects.

Qualifications

• 15 years of full-time professional experience with an Architecture degree.
• 10 years as Construction Administrator.
• 5 years as Designer.
• Construction Admin on public/educational facilities with project value >= $8M.
• Several projects with combined value >= $80M.
• 15 years as Project Superintendent/Manager on large projects with value >$30M.
• 2 years of college coursework + 5 years experience may substitute for education.
• Proficient in RFCs, submittals, change orders; MS Word/Excel; Bluebeam.

Job description

Duties:

Supports the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative during the preconstruction
phase in the following efforts:

• Assists in defining and reviewing the Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule including interim housing requirements
• Makes value engineering recommendations at the outset of the design
• Comments on the design professional’s deliverable identifying inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors and omissions in the progress plans to reduce RFIs and Change Orders
• Ensure documents are coordinated between design disciplines.
• Prepares comprehensive constructability review of pre-bid construction documents
• Coordinates the above efforts with the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative in a collaborative way
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications:

• 15 years’ full-time professional paid experience with an Architecture degree and the following:
  • a. 10 of those years must be acting as a Construction Administrator
  • b. 5 years remaining must be acting as a Designer.
  • c. Construction Administrator experience shall be on a public/educational facility construction project with full responsibility for supporting those projects.
  • d. Projects shall have a construction value of $8M or more for a single project or with acombined cumulative project value of $80M.

OR

• 15 years full time paid professional experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager on a public/educational facility construction and/or large commercial projects withfull responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction value of a single projectin excess of $30M with a combined cumulative project value of $400M.

OR

• 10.3 Minimum of two (2) years of college level coursework from a recognized college, university ortrade school and five (5) years additional experience may be substituted for the educationalrequirement.

Additional Qualifications:

• Works quickly, efficiently and confidently
• Proficient in writing RFC’s, reviewing submittals and change orders
• Proficiency in computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.), including Bluebeam

Salary dependent on education and experience. Salary range: $175K-$195K
