Job summary

Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills seeks an expert in timepieces to source consignments of antique pocket watches, vintage wristwatches, and high-end modern watches, representing HA at the Beverly Hills location.

Responsibilities include authenticating items, evaluating condition, negotiating consignor terms, creating catalog descriptions, and building relationships with collectors at trade shows and events.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within Timepieces in a major auction house and/or experience as a watch dealer.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Source consignments from private collectors, trade dealers and retailers.
• Authenticate property and evaluate condition when estimating.
• Negotiate consignor terms under company guidelines.
• Create and proofread catalog descriptions and marketing materials.
• Market specific consignments to valued clients.
• Review settlements and wires.
• Attend trade shows and conventions to obtain consignments, develop partnerships, and evaluate the current marketplace.
• Assist with processing incoming consignments.
• Ensure accuracy of details in consignment paperwork.
• Follow up on pending requests and outstanding issues.
• Assist with gallery previews on and off-site.
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

SUMMARY

Responsible for obtaining consignments of fine timepieces, including antique pocket watches, vintage wristwatches, and high-end modern watches

COMPENSATION

$75,000 - $125,000 (Commensurate based on experience).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Source quality consignments from private collectors, trade dealers and retailers
• Ensure property is authenticated and evaluate condition when estimating
• Negotiate consignor terms under company guidelines

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of experience within Timepieces in a major auction house and/or experience as a watch dealer

Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Word and Excel
• Ability to multitask and pay great attention to detail
• Must have a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills
• Public speaking talents are a plus!
