Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a Conservatorship Worker in Round Rock, TX to support CPS conservatorship cases. The role focuses on safeguarding children and coordinating services to achieve timely permanency with families and kinship providers.

New hires with a Master's in Social Work may qualify for an enhanced hiring step. The position is full-time with a daily shift, non-telework, and strong benefits including health insurance and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work may qualify for an increase at the point of hire.
• Nonexempt employee status per agency policy.

Responsibilities

• Receives cases from investigators after children are removed from their homes, placed in CPS conservatorship, and placed in care outside their homes.
• Determines each child’s needs and ensures appropriate referrals for testing, evaluations, records, or further assessments to achieve positive permanency.
• Works with children, families, and communities to plan for a child's permanency.
• Identifies potential permanency resources for the child through ongoing contact with parents, family members, and other individuals important to the child and family.
• Completes home studies of kinship providers who might care for the child.
• Meets with parents to assess risk and safety, referring them to appropriate services to move toward permanency.
