Job summary

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking a Conservation Operations Supervisor 2 to lead a maintenance crew at the Colonel William F. Fox Memorial Saratoga Tree Nursery in Saratoga Springs, NY.

• One year of permanent competitive service in specified DEC positions (promotion path) OR three years of building/mechanical maintenance/construction experience with one year in supervisory/planning.
• Ability to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions.
• Physical capability to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and work irregular schedules including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver's license required with ability to meet transportation needs and use state vehicles.

The Conservation Operations Supervisor 2 serves as a working supervisor of a maintenance crew at the Colonel William F. Fox Memorial Saratoga Tree Nursery in Saratoga Springs, NY. The role is responsible for overseeing maintenance, repair, and operation of buildings, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure at the facility, including supervising staff, coordinating with external contractors, and managing supplies and inventories. The supervisor reports to the Forester 2 and serves as the primary point of contact for all maintenance activities at the Nursery.
