Job summary

The Town of Sudbury is seeking a Conservation Land Manager to help manage town-owned conservation land and open space and provide construction oversight for the Conservation Department.

Duties include field reconnaissance, data collection, site inspections, land stewardship, and education and volunteer outreach, with enforcement of laws and regulations to protect the land.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management or related field with two years of relevant experience, or any equivalent education/experience combination.
• Experience in wetland protection, land use management and/or municipal settings preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Familiarity with municipal permitting, Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, ability to read maps, construction drawings and survey plans; GPS and GIS skills; basic woodworking/carpentry skills.

The Town of Sudbury is currently accepting applications for the position of Conservation Land Manager. In this role, you will assist with management of town-owned conservation land and open space and assist with construction oversight for the Conservation Department.

• helping to keep conservation land safe and protected through oversight and enforcement of laws and regulations

Typical qualifications for this position include:

• a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management or related field and two years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in wetland protection, land use management and/or experience in a municipal setting preferred.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.

Candidates should have familiarity with municipal government permitting, especially the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, be able to read and understand maps, construction drawings, and survey plans, able to use GPS and GIS applications and have basic woodworking and carpentry skills.

The full pay range for this position is $65,510–$86,165 per year (35 hours per week). Starting salary is based on qualifications and is typically in first half of range. The Town currently utilizes a predetermined step system for annual pay increases.
