General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking an Connectivity Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a small team focused on sourcing, change management, and integration of connectivity telematics hardware across GM vehicles.

This hybrid role requires strong leadership, end-to-end hardware development experience, and collaboration with Purchasing, suppliers, and validation teams to ensure readiness and performance across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required.
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware development for automotive, consumer electronics, or related industries.
  • Experience with GM processes for sourcing, part release, and ECRs.
  • Demonstrated ownership of hardware from concept through launch, including supplier engagement and cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting technical content and trade-offs to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of execution engineers focused on development and release of Connectivity hardware modules.
  • Drive specification development for all Connectivity components (performance, RF, power, security, regulatory, vehicle interfaces, etc).
  • Own sourcing, Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and alignment with Product Cost Engineering activities for Connectivity Hardware solutions.
  • Lead vehicle packaging and integration of the Connectivity Hardware into vehicle platforms, ensuring mechanical, thermal, and EMC constraints are met while maintaining connectivity performance targets.
  • Manage program-specific interface control documents (ICDe/ICDm) and other component level specifications, ensuring alignment with system, software, and vehicle requirements.
  • Maintain the ECU BoM and coordinate Tier‑N resiliency activities, including design reviews, timing alignment, risk tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Manage Contract Manufacturer engagement for ECU builds, ensuring correct configuration, build readiness, and timely delivery of hardware for development and production.
  • Execute and complete production approval activities for Connectivity Hardware ensuring all required documentation, test evidence, and regulatory approvals are in place for production release.
  • Develop and maintain the program DFMEA in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers, driving mitigation actions and continuous improvement for field robustness.
  • Coordinate prototype, DV, PV, and launch hardware builds with suppliers and internal teams, ensuring configuration control, issue tracking, and timely resolution of findings.
  • Coordinate hardware issue resolution with hardware design experts to ensure issues are quickly triaged, root-caused, and resolved.
  • Support hardware bring-up and in vehicle system test plan development and execution to ensure component and in-vehicle performance meet specifications.
  • Ensure Connectivity Hardware design documentation meets applicable safety, EMC/EMI, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements, through working with domain experts.
  • Align closely with cross functional teams from Product, Software, Quality, and Vehicle Teams on feature roadmap and development status.
  • Report to senior leaders on Connectivity Hardware status, supplier readiness, cost and timing risks, and required escalations.
