Job summary

BakerHostetler is seeking a Conflicts Attorney for its West Coast offices. The eligible candidate will manage conflict checks for new business, hires, and acquisitions, coordinating workflow for accuracy and timely output. The role emphasizes process improvement and automation in conflicts analysis.

Requirements include a JD and 5+ years at a mid-to-large law firm, with strong knowledge of ethics, risk management and client engagement letters. Exempt full-time position.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited institution and good standing to a state bar where the Firm has a physical office.
• Minimum of 5 years as a lawyer in a mid-size to large law firm; conflicts/ professional responsibility preferred.
• Knowledge of ethical, legal and risk management rules governing conflicts and compliance.
• Ability to lead time-sensitive projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
• Effective collaboration with partners, attorneys and staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Identify, resolve and clear conflicts of interest for new matters and hires.
• Draft waivers and engagement letters; review client documents for required conditions.
• Analyze information for compliance with firm policies and professional standards.
• Review outside counsel guidelines; assess firm’s ability to comply.
• Develop training programs and quality assurance for conflict analysis.
