Job summary

Baker Botts L.L.P. seeks a Conflicts Counsel – Attorney Hiring to join the Office of General Counsel. This full-time, remote position supports staff and lateral attorney-hire workflows across multiple offices, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel.

You will review conflicts reports, communicate with candidates and lawyers, draft disclosures, and implement ethical walls. The ideal candidate has a J.D., active license in at least one U.S.

Qualifications

• J.D. from accredited law school.
• Active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a conflicts attorney or similar role.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and calendaring skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze conflicts reports for lateral hire candidates, new lawyer hires, and staff hires.
• Communicate with candidates and Firm lawyers to gather information regarding potential conflicts.
• Draft extensive communications with candidates and Firm personnel, screening memoranda, and other ethical disclosures.
• Implement ethical walls, as needed, to assist with the resolution of conflict issues.
• May be required to analyze conflicts reports for new business intake, as needed.
• Draft engagement letters and policy reminders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
