Job summary

BakerHostetler is seeking a Conflicts Attorney for our West Coast offices. This exempt role reports to the Senior Manager of Intake Services and focuses on conflict of interest clearance for new matters, hires, and firm acquisitions.

Responsible for workflow coordination, process improvements, and automation in conflicts analysis. Requirements include a JD with good standing in the relevant state, 5+ years in a mid-to-large law firm, and strong skills in ethics, risk management and leadership.

Qualifications

• Must hold a JD in good standing with a state bar where the firm has a physical office.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a lawyer in a mid-size to large law firm.
• Strong knowledge of ethical, legal and risk management rules governing conflicts of interest.
• Ability to lead time-sensitive projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conflict identification, resolution and clearance for new matters.
• Draft waivers and engagement letters; review client letters for conditions.
• Analyze information for compliance with firm policies and professional rules.
• Evaluate outside counsel guidelines and assess firm’s ability to comply.
• Develop training and quality assurance programs for conflicts management.
• Coordinate with intake managers to implement best practices and improvements.
